Support for Loss from Homicide and Tragic Accident
The upcoming support groups are for people who have experienced a loss of a family member due to homicide. Due to the sensitivity of this issue, the loss would have occurred six months ago and is designed for those who are undergoing difficulties grieving and coping with day to day life.
These support groups would cover the loss of siblings and/or loss of parent(s). The age group will be from age 18 years of age until 70 years old. It will be a closed group that would involve only five people per session. This will be an online only event.
If you would like to be a part of a group that is sensitive to the complexities of grieving a death by homicide and be a part of a group who has the knowledge, tools and experience of assisting you through this difficulty, this is for you. It will be relatable and sensitive to your needs in this trying time.
It takes a village to heal...
There are no words to get rid of the pain or bring back your loved one. This untimely loss is forever etched in you and coming to accept it is not an easy feat. It's a journey that deserves time, attention, patience and understanding from people who know what it is like to experience a tragic loss. This isn’t your run of the mill bereavement support group, this support group is geared to people who have lost a loved one through homicide. Topics will cover the uniqueness of this loss and how it impacts your day to day living and dealing with others. It's okay that it doesn’t make sense, it's okay to feel like you want to hide and it's okay for you to be fearful. Not everyone goes through this and you did not expect it would happen to you.

This program is six weeks long
Select candidates will be able to join after undergoing an individual session that includes a screening to assess your level of readiness to participate in this group.

Support for Actors/Film Industry
This support group is offered for people who are acting in the film and commercial industry. This industry can be highly stressful where burnout can be imminent. Finding gigs can be hit or miss. The chaos and long hours of being on set can be taxing on one’s body and it can test one’s level of patience. Furthermore, it can be challenging to embody a character then once it has become solidified then having to ask of yourself to discard it only to try to find oneself again. It's not easy to bounce back into being yourself. This group is going to provide a forum for actors to discuss the complexities of being in a fast paced high stress industry and more. This is a closed group that would involve up to five people online.

If you have extended health benefits, check to see if this service is covered. Inform them it is run by a Registered Social Worker and a Registered Psychotherapist.
